Investigation of Perceptions between Major and General about Policyization on Glasses Online Sale

Abstract
Purpose : The purpose of this study is to investigate public opinion about policyization of online sale of glasses.

Methods : 277 subjects were divided into major and general, and online questionnaire (Google Forms) was used. This study investigated whether of not they majored in optometry, basic personal information (sex, age), Cognition status and agree status, and asked the reason to compare their perceptions.

Results : The subjects of 165 major people (59.57%) were participated, Among them, 145 people (87.88%) were aware of online sale of glasses, and 20 people (12.12%) didn¡¯t know about it. Most of the majors were aware of this policy. In agree status, 10 people (6.06%) were in agree and 155 (93.94%) disagree it. The most common reason for agree was ¡®convenience of purchase¡¯ (70.00%), and the most disagree reason was ¡®degradation of the professionalism and violation of fundamental rights of the optometrist¡¯ (58.06%). The subjects of 112 general people (40.43%) were participated, Among them, 26 people (23.21%) were aware of online sale of glasses, and 86 people (76.79%) didn¡¯t know about it. In agree status, 40 people (35.71%) were in agree and 72 (64.29%) disagree it. The most common reason for agree was ¡®convenience of purchase¡¯ (52.50%), and the most disagree reason was ¡®increase prescription of wrong spectacles of glasses¡¯ (58.33%).

Conclusion : There were a lot of opposition to this policy from both majors and the general public, and this indicates that most of the perceptions that glasses should be manufacture after accurate prescription and fitting by on optometrist whose expertise has been recognized through the optometrist system. If this policy be permitted, it will occur many trial and errors and have several optical side effects. So measures to prevent this should be established.
